Claims in the manufacturing industry make up about 30% of all SR&ED claims. Claims in manufacturing can include well planned out detailed trials of running a new injection molding process which would include trial sheets and experimental results. However, more often than not, more of the SR&ED is shop floor SR&ED, where the technical team finds a problem and needs to experiment to find a solution. This is no less eligible for SR&ED. We can show you how to keep sufficient documentation to show the problems you encountered and the approach you are taking.
In the manufacturing setting, it’s always good to get engaged early, but there are many sources of evidence to show you have done SR&ED even if you are at the end of your claim period, you may have prototypes or scrap material that make for solid evidence if the CRA should choose to review or audit your file.
